The Quilts of Gees Bend come to Australia

Some of the quilts will be on sale at the two events at which they are to be displayed. Lovers of textiles, quilts and art are all invited to view these remarkable quilts and consider purchasing a piece of modern history that expresses arcane skill and everlasting commitment to quiltmaking as an art.

For the second time ever a collection of Gee's Bend quilts will travel outside the United States of America. A significant collection will be hung at two national quilting events – in Brisbane and Sydney. Like Tinwood, Creative Living Events (the event organiser) is excited to be able to assist with exposing these quilts to a current and emerging audience worldwide, helping to bring vernacular art the opportunities it deserves to thrive internationally and to influence future generations.
